Setting live traps effectively could involve covering it with straw, plants, and other vegetation. Another good idea is to place dirt and other natural ground cover on the wire mesh of the traps floor. This picture is of a trap which is holding a fox. The dirt and other floor covering which was placed inside the trap during set up was all patted down from the animal which was caught. We are displaying the trap here because live cage trapping for coyotes should include some extra time and effort on the part of the trapper to disguise and conceal the live trap. A key part of this process is the covering up of the mesh wire bottom of the trap. Most animals are sensitive to this wire and may become trap shy when the flooring is felt. Eliminate this possibility all together by covering up the bottom of the trap with some natural cover like dirt or plants. |
